What grades does River School support?

Grade 6 only at launch. The full curriculum — 346 learning objectives across ELA, Math, Science, History, Art, and Phys Ed — is live. K–5 and 7–8 are on the roadmap for 2027.

Is this a replacement for school?

It’s a full Grade 6 curriculum designed for homeschoolers. If your state requires a portfolio or testing, River School’s weekly digest and exportable session log are designed to feed those directly.

How is this different from the last AI tutor my kid tried?

Four channels. Each lesson can be learned four ways — narrative, hands-on, applied, or problem-solving — so a kid who stalls in one route gets a different entry point. No streaks, no badges, no animated coins. The AI grades with honest teacher voice, not hype.

What data do you collect from my child?

Their display name (can be a pseudonym), their grade, their PIN (hashed), and the session data needed to drive mastery — which lessons they tried, which sub-concepts they hit, which they missed. No DOB, no address, no real name required.

Can you see what my child writes?

Yes — short answers are stored so the AI tutor can grade them and so the weekly parent digest can quote (with your consent) one sentence per week. You can turn quote consent off at any time; the child can also set a privacy lock that overrides your setting.

How do I cancel?

From the billing page, click "Manage billing" — you’ll land in Stripe’s hosted portal where you can cancel immediately or at period end. Your child profiles and progress stay put in case you come back.

What about COPPA?

Fully compliant. Parent is the account holder and legal consenter; child is a pseudonymous sub-profile. You can export everything we have on file (under §312.6 right-of-access) or permanently delete the account from /settings/account.
